WOW! Following two plus years of dreaming and preparing the grand day has arrived. Here we are at the start of the 2015 Baja Ha Ha rally from San Diego harbor to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. I can’t count the ups and downs, or the small wins or disappointing set-backs (including a one year delay to rebuild RD’s aft end) along the way. Who cares? Today we are truly living a long-sought dream.
There are 110 boats and about 450 people and a variety of dogs and cats in this view. Granted, it is not as big a flotilla as the landing at Normandy, but it’s a big deal here including live TV coverage. So at least we are the local good news of the day. More importantly it’s a benchmark day for so many mariners.
Next stop is Turtle Bay, about 275 nautical miles to the south. Looks like Hurricane Patricia is not a factor and it will be a downwind sail for the next 2 days and nights. I’m out of here for a while and just about out of Internet range. And I love sailing through the night!
